I was watched The Magnificent Seven on Saturday or Sunday (I totally forget about it…) and so i write my review on Tuesday afternoon after someone ask me what movie that i’ve watched recently.
For me, finding that Warkop DKI : Jangkrik Boss Part 1 was still on the movie is pretty depressing.
not because i don’t like comedy, but it only i prefer old movie in the old times.
Not an old movie on newer world but still in “old” package. It’s lame.
Different from this movie I watch, it’s a tipical cowboy movie.. And it’s good because it still stick to the basic.
Another reason why I watch this movie is because I found out that Denzel Washington play as the main character, and I’ve told you that I love that man and every character he played.
Chris Pratt (as Josh Faraday), Ethan Hawke (as Goody or Goodnight Robicheaux), Martin Sensmeier (as Red Harvest), Vincent D’Onofrio (as Jack Horne), Byung-hun Lee (as Billy Rocks), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (as Vasquez), and Denzel (as Chisolm) play as a hero, fighting Bartholomew Bogue on a town called Rose Creek.
This movie is one of the few Western movies where an actor’s ethnicity matches their character’s. ‘Martin Sensmeier’ is Native Alaskan (Tlingit). Manuel Garcia-Rulfo was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. So their matched their character, and so it flawless.
But few people knows about this one fact.
That this film is a remake of The Magnificent Seven (1960), which is itself a remake of Shichinin no samurai (1954). LOL
And this movie is both Denzel and Chris’s first Western movie.
What makes this movie more into “trivia” movie is that Chris Pratt appears in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), in which his character’s father is played by Kurt Russell, whose own father, Bing Russell appeared in The Magnificent Seven (1960).
The whole movie is just ok.
A journey of a widow who seek revenge (ehmm.. righteousness) to people who murder her husband and threatened the people of her town, to gather some heroes to work for her.
Bad guy being murdered by seven people. The Magnificent Seven.
Chris Pratt character is fun as always. 😛 can’t get rid of his “Star Lord” image out of him.
And at near-end of the movie, he sacrificed him self and be the ‘bomb’ so he can destroy the gatling gun.
it’s a major spoiler, sorry.
This is the quote from that movie…
Sam Chisolm: “We’ve got a seven.”
Sheriff Harp: “He’s got an army!”
Josh Faraday: “And they’ll be murdered by the world’s greatest lover..”
This movie, you should watch it, if only you had a spare time.
The action part is quite amusing. 😛
